The sustainable development gave a new run-up to the employment in the environment sector. Numerous professions were born in particular thanks to the new standards for the reduction of the expenses of energy and more and more young people choose to pursue studies in this branch. The specialized companies have the rib and recruit as well technicians who watch the conservation of the planet that engineers to find new long-lasting(sustainable) and economic solutions. This business sector employs already 370 000 people, and one of the objectives of Grenelle of the Environment is to reach 600 0000 jobs by 2020.
The biggest suppliers of employment are the sectors of the waste (management of household refuse, selective sorting, recycling) and the water treatment (purification of the water, the treatment of muds and waste water). If today about 80 % of jobs concern these jobs, employment opportunities geared towards renewable energy (solar, wind ...) and green building are not negligible: 300 000 jobs involved should the renewables in 2020.
In this economic context, some projects have been postponed because of budget but the environment sector continues to grow, because many companies anticipate recovery.
